4. GRINDING HOLLOW BACK TEETH

Usually, the "hollow" is not ground into the tooth at all. Rather, it is the gullet that has "migrated" up the back of the tooth.

  1. The cause is often excessive grinding on the front or face of the tooth and not enough on the back of the tooth.
  2. To regain the "full" tooth outline, grind more on the top of the tooth and less on the face.
  3. To maintain the swage point while keeping a "full" tooth outline on saws with a gullet depth exceeding 40% of the tooth space, set the swage for maximum "pull down".
