CHECK MOTORS FOR PROPER ROTATION DIRECTION AND SPEED CAUTION: Never exceed the grinding wheel manufacturers recommended speed. Under no circumstances should the sharpener wheel arbor be operated in excess of 3000 R.P.M. A variable speed adjustment is REQUIRED to maintain proper wheel speed.
The action motor/cam shaft assembly is preset for the maximum recommended Speed (30-35 teeth per minute). When grinding large saws with long tooth spaces or when an especially smooth grind is desired, it is often advantageous to reduce the cam shaft speed by changing the pulleys and belts. The cam shaft should turn so that the long handle of the shift lever is being forced down in to the notches of the shift lever bracket. The arrows on the cams should also point in this direction. To reverse the rotation, switch any two leads on the 3-phase motor. Set the back feed mechanism for proper stroke. (Refer to Frequently asked question No. 9.) |
