ALIGN FACEPLATE TO FEED FINGER ARM TRAVEL

Since most file room floors are not level, we do not recommend using a level or plumb bob to align your sharpener. While special setting tools are available to make this job accurate and more efficient, the instructions that follow require only a straight edge and tools as specified.

1.  Using a short straight edge, make sure there are no hollows worn in the faceplate and that the face plate has not been twisted or warped by the adjusting screws.

The outside edge of the feed finger arm was set at the factory and should be approximately 1/8" in from the outside face of the faceplate.

2. The feed finger arm should feed in (toward the back of the sharpener) about .001" per inch of forward travel.

3. Adjust the feed finger track inside the sharpener so that the feed finger feeds down .002" in 4" of travel.

NOTE: The previous two elements can be made by mounting a magnetic base with a dial indicator on top of the feed finger arm, just behind the feed finger. First, sweep the face of the faceplate and then the top edge of the faceplate as the feed finger arm moves forward.
