SETTING UP MACHINE
Mount machine on rigid base and level in two directions in relation to top of bench and block as shown below:
Connect wiring to proper power supply, matching that required on motor nameplate. Test run machine.
LIFT SPRINGS
Below the cap through which passes the pressure screw are two spring-actuated cap screws, which lift the upper roll and keep out all slack in the connections. These two screws are also used in the adjustment of the gears as shown in the following illustration:
ADJUSTING THE PRESSURE HANDLE
Pressure handle should stop at the same position at either end of the roll travel.
Make necessary adjustments with the two cap screws as shown below:
ADJUSTING ROLLS RELATIVE TO EACH OTHER
There are two types of rolls. One is the standard roll for rolling only, which is
our part number 1864H. The other type is for rolling and shearing, and is our part
number 1866H. We do not recommend that the standard rolls be used for shearing,
since the hard roll edges will chip.
The crown on our stretcher rolls is centered with the sides of the rolls themselves.
This will assist in adjusting the rolls. The crown on each roll should be
exactly matched with the other roll in the machine. Make adjustments at the end of
the long caps for alignment, see below.
