Protects People and Band Saw Teeth

Armstrong Safe-Edge fits over band saw teeth to protect cutting points from damage and people from injury. The special shape features one long straight side and a shorter, flared side to simplify mounting on the saw. These two sides firmly grip the saw below the cutting points, so wires or hooks are not needed to hold Safe-Edge on the saw. There is ample space for swaged or hard tipped saw points as large as 1/4" kerf.

It takes highly skilled people as well as considerable time and expense to put up a band saw to cut profitably. This is why many mills have made the use of Armstrong Safe-Edge a standard procedure to protect their people, saws, and profits. This tough, reusable plastic material was designed with the help of saw filers to prevent damage to saw teeth while protecting the people handling band saws.

Safe-Edge is usually installed over the entire length of the band saw before it is removed from the sharpener. No tools are needed to quickly snap this material over the cutting edge and it stays in place without hooks or wires. Once the saw is on the mill and under strain, Safe-Edge can be removed to be used again and again.

The added safety and saw protection is an advantage whenever band saws are moved. It is particularly useful on saws for horizontal mills, slant rigs, double cut mills and quad mills, which are especially susceptible to damaged teeth. Safe-Edge will also help maintain the keen edge of saws with hardened tips of cobalt alloy or high speed steel. With Safe-Edge covering the saw teeth, band saws can be safely stored next to walkways.

Armstrong Safe-Edge can be ordered in 250 ft. coils or in cut lengths of less than 250 ft. It is easily cut to the desired length and fits all widths and gauges of band saws.
